Weddings

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres…Love never fails’ 1 Corinthians 13.4-7

Congratulations if you’ve recently got engaged, or have decided to get married. A wedding is one of life’s great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy.

Marriage is intended by God to be a creative relationship, as his blessing enables husband and wife to love and support each other in good times and in bad, and to share in the care and upbringing of children. For Christians, marriage is also an invitation to share life together in the spirit of Jesus Christ. It is based upon a solemn, public and life-long covenant between a man and a woman, declared and celebrated in the presence of God and before witnesses.

If you live in the parish of Binley, or if you have a qualifying connection to the church, you should be able to get married at St Bartholomew’s. If you don’t currently have a qualifying connection to the church but would like to get married here, a connection can be created if you come along to our usual services for a period of six months. If either of you has been previously married you will need to have a conversation with the vicar.
